bike.home. - 2010

Few words could do a better job describing what the Habitat 500 is all about. It embraces our participants passion for cycling and their desire to create homeownership opportunities for those in need.

The home will be built by riders and sponsored by riders. It will be located near a bike trail and bikes will be donated to the family to help share the Habitat 500 riders’ love and passion for cycling.

This year’s bike.home. is being built in Hibbing in partnership with the Montgomery family!  Please consider designating a portion of your funds raised to help build this home. Just think – if each rider designated just 10 percent of his or her funds raised to the bike.home. – we will have raised over $35,000!!!

The 2009 Bike.Home. was located in Rushford, Minnesota!

Bike, Build or Breather?

On Thursday, July 15th, 2010 riders have the opportunity to choose which activity they would like to partake in for the day. Riders can choose ONE of the following:

1) Bike – Treat yourself to a challenging 100 mile loop through the scenic Iron Range. Those choosing to ride must remember to sign up to ride that day. We are requiring when riders check in on Wednesday they must verifying their ride or build plans with Check-In volunteer, Sara Wessling. (Please remember - our top priority is the safety and security of each of our riders!)

2) Build - If volunteering is what you’d prefer, riders will have the opportunity to work on the bike.home. during a morning or afternoon shift. Up to 20 riders can sign up to volunteer during each shift. If you are interested in volunteering, please email (habitat500@hfhmn.org) and specify which shift (AM or PM) you would prefer.

3) Breather  - If you are not riding or volunteering, you are free and clear to do whatever you would like. Enjoy your day off and rest your legs for the century ride the following day!
